Menu 10.7.85 - CU·Documents Setup
CU·Documents is a word processor that interfaces with Microsoft Word® and is available with The Collector System 2005 version 2 or higher. We recommend using this as your letter editor. For more information on using CU·Documents, see Menu 10.7 - Correspondence.
You can configure where The Collector System stores and archives letters/notices created using CU·Documents by entering paths to your own internal directory.
You can also control the order in which letters/notices print in one of two ways:
-
Sort Option 1 - By letter ID and then by customer. The Collector System sorts and prints each letter/notice type together. For example:
LetterA Customer1
LetterA Customer2
LetterB Customer1
LetterB Customer2
LetterC Customer1
LetterC Customer2
-
Sort Option 2: By customer and then by letter ID. The Collector System sorts and prints all of the letter/notice types for each customer together. For example:
Customer1 LetterA
Customer1 LetterB
Customer1 LetterC
Customer2 LetterA
Customer2 LetterB
Customer2 LetterC
When you use Sort Option 1, all of the customers that receive the same letter ID are grouped together in the same print job. The Collector System runs multiple print jobs together using the CU·Documents multi-threading feature. This means that the print jobs process more quickly, but you cannot predict which letter ID prints first. By default, Sort Option 1 is selected.
When you use Sort Option 2, The Collector System suspends the CU·Documents multi-threading feature to ensure that letters/notices print in stay grouped by customer. This forces The Collector System to process one letter request at a time, which may result in a slower printing process.
If you set the MS Word Print Duplex option to Y in the letter definition, The Collector System processes these letters separately and excludes them from the primary sort. For more information, see Configuring letter/notice definitions.
