Understanding Data Flow Manager

Data Flow Manager is a computer-to-computer interface that makes electronic data exchange possible between The Collector System and other external systems.

DFM allows you to:

  • Load assignment information
  • Load account updates
  • Export account notes from the Memo file
  • Export transaction information (electronic statements)
  • Auto-post transactions

Initially, DFM is not activated. To activate DFM, contact your Finvi Support representative.

Make sure you know how to use DFM before you try to convert your data, as improper use of this feature could cause irreversible damage. You are responsible for the results of your use of DFM. Contact your Finvi Support representative for information on how to use DFM, and for more information on special conditions that apply to support calls regarding DFM.

DFM is designed primarily to exchange data with Windows-based workstations. It can also exchange data with the server side of The Collector System. Before you begin, you should know how to create tab-delimited data files using applications such as Excel™, Cartographer/EDI™, and Data Junction®.

You can use any program that outputs in ASCII tab-delimited format.

Data Flow Designer

To help make importing files easier, Finvi offers the application Data Flow Designer, which is a wizard that helps you convert information in tab-delimited or flat Microsoft Excel files to The Collector System.
