Menu 11.14 - Transfer Precollect

There are two ways you can transfer precollect accounts to the trust system in The Collector System. They are:

  • Individually - Allows you to transfer precollect accounts regardless of status code or the number of days that have or have not elapsed since the last letter was sent. The only precollect accounts that you cannot transfer using this option are accounts that have zero balance owing.
  • By Client or Date (or All) - Transfers accounts by client number or date, or transfers all accounts that meet the transfer criteria.

Before you transfer a large number of accounts, we recommend you use the Reviewing precollect accounts prior to a transfer feature to generate a list of precollect accounts you can review before actually transferring the accounts. This option uses the same transfer criteria to generate the list as used to actually transfer the accounts to the trust system.

Whenever a precollect account is transferred to trust, the system automatically creates one (and sometimes two) notes. The abbreviations in the notes help collectors understand what has been done with this account when it was in precollect. The abbreviations are:

PC#

The precollect account number.

AGN

The precollect assignment date.

A$

The original assignment amount.

PDT

The last payment date.

P$

The total amount of payments received while in precollect.
