Process Scheduler settings

Because the Process Scheduler settings contain standard default values, you are not required to change any of the settings before using Process Scheduler.

If you decide to change any of the settings, you must restart the Process Scheduler phantom.

To change the Process Scheduler settings:

1. From the Master menu, navigate to Utility > Process Scheduler (menu 9.28).
2. In the Process Scheduler window, select Administration, and press Enter or click Ok.
3. In the Process Scheduler Administration window, select Process Scheduler Settings, and press Enter or click Ok.

4. In the Process Scheduler Settings window, select a setting to change, and press Enter or click Ok:

   Delay Cycle of Phantom Process

   Controls how often Process Scheduler checks for processes to start. The default value is .05 second.

   In the Phantom loop sleep value window, type the number of seconds, and press Enter or click Ok.

   Maximum Phantom Duration

   Protects against hung processes. After the allotted time has expired, Process Scheduler kills potentially hung processes. Certain processes that take a considerable amount of time, such as day-end, phone validity, and letters, have overrides for this setting. The default value is 60 seconds.

   In the Max time a phantom can run before being automatically shut down window, type the number of seconds, and press Enter or click Ok.

   Maximum Simultaneous Process Scheduler Phantoms

   There is no limit on the maximum number of simultaneous phantoms. The default value is null (no maximum).

   In the Max number of phantoms that can run simultaneously window, type a number or leave the field empty, and press Enter or click Ok.

   Process Logging Parameters

   Process logging writes an external text file log. This file is separate from The Collector System, and must be viewed with an external application. Logging is inactive by default.

   Depending on the current state of process logging, do one of the following:

   Process logging is currently inactive

   1. To activate logging, in the Process Logging window, click Yes.

   2. For the initial activation of process logging, in the Enter directory path window, type a file path, and press Enter or click Ok.

      The directory path is relative to the host server.

   3. To change the log path, at the Change path? prompt, click Yes.

      • In the Enter directory path window, type a file path, and press Enter or click Ok.

        The directory path is relative to the host server.

   Process logging is currently active

   1. To deactivate logging, in the Process Logging window, click Yes.
   2. In the Enter directory path window, click Cancel.
   Auto Delete Process Archive

   The process archive file keeps a history of all processes executed using Process Scheduler. This file is useful mainly for support issues. You can manually clear the archive file or set the number of days to keep history items before automatic deletion. The default value is null (no auto delete).

   In the Days to automatically delete items from archive file window, type the number of days or leave the field empty, and press Enter or click Ok.

   Auto Delete PH_Entries

   The &PH& file keeps a log of everything that would have printed to the screen if a process had not been run in the background (i.e. day-end info). You can set the number of days to keep items before automatic deletion. The default value is 7.

   In the Days to automatically delete items from &PH& file window, type the number of days, and press Enter or click Ok.

5. Click Cancel.

6. At the NOTE screen, press Enter.

   

7. If you changed any settings, restart the Process Scheduler phantom.
